Love is in the air. Literally. At least for a male ruby-throated hummingbird in my backyard. How do I know? I saw him fly back and forth in a wide U-shaped arc several times, making a sound equivalent to a mini-helicopter. Ruby-throats winter in the American tropics and summer in the eastern US, where they mate and raise their young. To catch the attention of a nearby female, the male shows off his ruby throat by doing his pendulum dance. This guy sure got my attention. I love nature, the best show on earth.
What cute mischief or sweet deed have you seen an animal do? I could write a book about our pets’ hijinks.
