I’ve always enjoyed reading about people and events of the past. Weave history and fiction together, and the odds of me reading the book increase. Add a touch of romance, and I move the book to the top of my stack. Transport me to the time and place with the beauty of your words, and I’ll read from cover to cover in one sitting. But touching my heart with the characters’ struggles and triumphs to the point I think about them afterward is a rarity. The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson possesses all of these qualities and more. No wonder her story has won so many awards.
