Twenty million sold copies of this book established it as a publishing success. Too bad owning one of them doesn’t guarantee cooking success. If it did, I’d stock my kitchen cabinets full of them. As the owner of two copies—mine and my mother’s—I’m sorry to say my cooking efforts don’t approach anywhere close to doubly good food. Any recipe requiring more than six ingredients or two pots sends me searching for a simpler one. Cooking should not be complicated, people. Anyone able to walk and chew gum at the same time should possess the skills to cook a decent meal, right? I wish. But forgive my kitchen rant and share how you cook. Do you rely on memory, use a cookbook, or keep a recipe file handy?
