Humming Along

Over the years a consistent indicator of spring sliding into summer is the arrival of hummingbirds. The first one of the season buzzed me last week while I worked in the yard. As if a miniature drone, he zoomed around the house several times scouting the best blooms. After selecting a red flower, he sat a spell like an emperor surveying his kingdom. Enjoy the solitude, little fella. When the others arrive, you’ll be busy protecting your territory.

What do you consider the first sign of summer on its way?
