Go Green

If you need a reason to party, St. Patrick’s Day invites you and the rest of the world to wear green and celebrate today. Centuries earlier a feast originated in Ireland to honor a priest who established churches and schools. Respected references state Irish soldiers in the British Army brought the holiday to America in the mid-1700s and New York City held the first St. Patrick’s Day parade in 1762. But the southern people of Georgia argue their lovely town of Savannah commemorated the event much earlier with its first Irish settlers arriving in 1734. Wherever you are today and regardless where you’re from, I wish you a Happy St. Patrick’s Day.

While a number of foods, beverages, and waterways flaunt the color green for this special occasion, I draw the line at green eggs and ham. What’s one of your favorite naturally green foods?
