My mother tried new recipes all the time while raising a family. None of us declined a seat on the taste-testing panel because she cooked excellent southern delights. When you fast forward to her great-granddaughter tasting her first baby food this week, the toddler’s reaction didn’t reflect a five star review. Her facial expression ventured closer to “Mom, you gotta be kidding.” If you’ve sampled a jar of baby food as an adult, you know the child is right. No wonder many young kids become picky eaters. Mention the word carrot, and they remember the jar of orange goop you once spooned into their mouths. Nowadays I find myself just as picky. If it’s not chocolate, I think twice about eating it.
