Something I miss is big family dinners, and my cousin recently sent me a cartoon as a reminder of the ones we used to have as kids. I’m talking a gathering where three, maybe four, generations of family get together to eat and love on each other. Where the biggest obstacle is finding enough table space for everyone and the only argument is who gets the piece of chicken with the wishbone. Where after the meal, the ladies stay at the table and talk over an extra piece of dessert, the men find a softer chair or the couch and take a nap, and the kids play outside and manage not to maim each other too bad. We’re getting closer to being able to have large celebrations again, and I hope folks remember what truly matters in life and cherish those times with each other.
